HIT with kettlebells?
Okay, I'm a reformed HITer. I used High Intensity Training style training in the past and have to admit that I did have a decent amount of success with it. I used it extensively when I went throush a tough period of working full-time and going to college three nights per week.
I would get in two short (20 minute) full body workouts per week and I made some decent gains with this routine. I am now getting ready to go through another rough few weeks... July and August are going to be mandatory overtime months for my job, I'm in the midst of wedding preparations, and also having my daughter stay with me for the most part the next few weeks. Short version: I MUST modify my routine.
I had an idea of trying kettlebells using the HIT protcol. I was thinking of doing a lower volume of heavy KB snatches with the 32 kg kettlebell on Mondays and Thursdays. This type of workout should only take me about 10 or 15 minutes but hopefully be very heavy and intense. On Tuesdays and Fridays I was planning on throwing in a short high intensity cardio session of skipping rope or even a hard one mile jog around the block. Again, this should only take 10 or 15 minutes.
I figure that if I push hard on these four workout days that I can hopefully maintain or even make some type of gains. What do you guys think? It is only about an hour of week of training but it would all be good, quality, efficient style training. Should I give it a shot?
