Kettlebell hand care

Recurring palm and callus tears have been a frustration for me. I won't use chalk as per Pavel's instruction and have never considered tape or gloves. I just had to do some kettlebell work this morning despite hand trauma, and I stumbled onto what I think is a good compromise: I draped a washcloth sized terry cloth sweat rag over the handle, gripped good and hard and "voila", no-pain snatches and cleans.

The fabric didn't bunch up and offered good protection and control. I plan to use this method until my hands heal and gradually wean off it, interspersing sets with and without the rag, to retoughen my hands.
